Embossed Harvest Card
This embossed card in rich harvest colors is not appropriate for just the fall season, but for Christmas, birthdays and about any other occasion. It is simple but elegant and very easy to make. The supplies you will need are:
Deep Red Textured Cardstock
Yellow Cardstock
3" x 3" Brass Stencil
Light Table
Embossing Stylus
Gold Leafing Pen (wide tip)
1" wide Gold Sheer Ribbon
Foam Tape
Red or Dark Pink Chalk (optional)
Directions:
Make a card or use a purchased card in A4 size (8 1/4" w x 5 1/2" tall).
Cut a yellow piece of cardstock to 3 1/4" x 3 1/4". Place the stencil on your light table, then position the yellow card stock face down on top of the stencil. Carefully trace and fill in all the design with your embossing stylus.
Cut a piece of red cardstock to a 3 3/8" x 3 3/8" square. Trace around all edges with a wide tip gold leafing pen.
Attach the yellow embossed card stock to the red square with foam tape.
Carefully bring out the embossed design with red chalk, applied with a cotton puff or q-tip. (If you've never done this belfore, just rub the chalk applicator very lightly over the raised design.)
Folding an 12" piece of sheer gold ribbon in half, make a bow for the top of the card. Cut off the excess ribbon.
Use a 6" length of the same sheer gold ribbon, place it lengthwise on the front of the card and secure with glue or zots. Extend it an inch or so past the bottom edge of the card, trimming it if necessary. Place the bow at the top of the ribbon and also adhere with zots.
Place the red and yellow square near the bottom half of the card and adhere with foam tape.
I hope you enjoy this card. It's a classy touch for any occasion! If you have a handmade card pattern that you would like to share, simply email me and send a small photo along with instructions and supplies used.
