How To Make A Library Pocket and Tag
Oh no! You got the gift, but there's not time to run out and get a card!
How many times has that happened to you? Well, take heart! You can make your own library pocket and tag. It doesn't take long, and it's a simple project. This is a great way to decorate a gift, take the place of a greeting card, use for unique handmade invitations, unique thank you gifts, or even as a money holder. When you are finished, add some ribbon, borders, vellum sayings, die cuts, stickers, name plates, brads, or rub-on transfers for a special touch!
You will need:
*2 pieces of cardstock
*scissors
*ruler
*glue
*pencil for making markings
*paper punch
*embellishments
Directions:
#1 Draw a rectangle on 1 piece of cardstock, (lightweight cardstock or even decorative paper works best) 9" long x 7" high.
#2 Measure 2.5" across from the left side of the triangle and make a mark. Do the same on the right side (see the diagram at the bottom).
#3 Measure down 1.5" from both marks you made and draw a straight line across. You should have a small rectangle shape in the top middle area of your page.
#4 Now, we will work on the bottom of your rectangle, making a flap for the bottom of your pocket. This time, starting 1" from the bottom of your rectangle, measure 2.5" across from the left side like before, and make a mark. Do the same with the right side.
#5 Instead of making a straight line across, make a diagonal line like a backslash on the left, and a forward slash on the right, ending at the bottom of the triangle. Cut out your pocket shape.
#6 Now you're ready to fold and glue...almost done! Fold in the two side flaps, as shown in the picture. They should overlap. Glue the edges. Fold up the bottom flap and glue. You're ready to embellish! If you need a tag, read on.
Directions for Tag
#1 Make a rectangle on your second sheet of paper 3.75" long x 6" high.
#2 On the top left side of the rectangle, measure 1" across and make a mark. Do the same with the right side.
#3 Measure 1" down on the top left side and make a mark. Do the same on the right side. Join these two lines with a slanted line on each side.
#4 Now mark the middle top and use a hole punch to make a hole for a ribbon. Cut out the tag, and you're ready to embellish!
