To My Valentine
For this Valentine's Day card, you will need:
Red A4 card
2 pieces of contrasting patterned scrapbook paper
Ruler, Pencil, Black Pen & Glue
McGill's Folder Punch
Smallest Stacking Daisy Flower Punch ~ McGill
Small Pieces of Pink, Black & Red Cardstock
1/4" Pink Brad
Black Die-Cut Felt Border Ribbon (or a silk, die-cut or chipboard flower)
Instructions:
(Card will be lengthwise, the fold on the left.)
Cut a piece of patterned scrapbook paper to 3 3/4" x 5".
One the left side of the patterned paper, make a mark at 2". Place a ruler at an angle and draw a line the whole way up to the top right corner and cut at the line. Use the scrap from your patterned paper to make a triangle the same size out of a contrasting paper.
Glue the patterned papers to the front of the card, looking at the picture at the top of this page as a guide. You will want a slight space between the contrasting papers.
Cut a piece of felt border ribbon in any design you like. Most borders are extra wide, but it's very easy to just trim around the design that you prefer. I used Queen and Company black felt ribbon border. The width is 3", so I just cut around a flower and leaf design. (You could use any flower here, such as a silk Bazzill Basics flower or even a die cut.)
Place a light pink brad in the center of the flower. If the metal prongs of the brad stick out the back of your flower, just trim the prongs off with scissors or a wire cutter. Glue the ribbon or flower at an angle to "join" the two contrasting papers.
Cut a red 2" x 2" square out of cardstock. Place it kitty-corner on the front of the card and pop it up with foam adhesive tape if desired.
Punch a folder with the McGill folder punch out of pink cardstock. Write "to my valentine" with your black pen.
Punch or cut a 1 1/4" square out of black cardstock. Punch a small daisy flower out of pink cardstock.
Glue the pink flower to a corner of the black square. Glue the black sqaure at an angle to the inside back of the folder. Glue the folder at an angle to the red square. There's no need to glue the folder shut if you don't want to. I leave mine unglued to add to the 3-D look.
All that's needed is a sweet sentiment inside to your loved one and you're all finished!
